    Return to paradise

Characters are persons in narrative or grammatic works who are characterized with moral qualities expressed in their speech (dialogue) and action.
A character may remain stable and unchanged from beginning to end, or he may under go a radical change either though a gradual development or as a result of an extreme crises (complex of events).
Flat character is built around a single idea and quality.
Round character is complex in temperament and is represented in a subtle particularity.
The characterization of persons in a narrative is done by the alternative method of showing (presenting character’s talking and acting) and telling (the author intervenes to describe and evaluate the motives or the reasons of what they say and what they do).

There are 2 chief characters in the story one is more focused than the other.
Lisa was characterized as a sensitive and romantic person, she response to the romantic setting/place which surround her (1rt paragraph). She is sentimental and emotional; she recalls memories of her marriage refreshed by the geographical spot in which she returns.
There’s a description of her interaction with sea.
After the happiness she experienced she decided to put an end to their marriage (the cause is given at the end of text). She hated and rejected her husband because he was not beside her when she suffered.
The misery of Lisa turns into a happiness again after reconciling her partner (last paragraph).
--->She’s a round character (complex in temperament and disposition). She was sentimental in the beginning (showing love to her husband) than nerves and depressed (hating and dismissing her husband) then again sentimental and finally permissive and tolerant (forgiving her husband).
James was not characterized in depth, he loved his wife, he accepted divorce but love submerges in the end. He is a flot character (easy to describe). He starts as a romantic lover and ends so.
The method used was not showing but telling (the author reports what was said between them, makes comments describes persons and things…).
Although characters was describing by telling but the reader has the opportunity as a room to infer their qualities and dispositions.
The story starts by the post climatic moment (feeling of grief). This point is supposed to be the beginning of the real story. It’s used flashback----> memories.
It’s only on the 3rd paragraph that the events regain the chronologic order (meeting James, conversing with him…) (the end of climax toward to denouement).
Suspense is born after the appearance of the men, but our exportations are valuated and the surprise happens (the identity of James is uncovered).
The result of the meeting is the return to paradise in the denouement we find a reversal in Lisa’s fate (from unhappiness---> happiness).
